Religious Education

My wife and I home school our children, and we do so openly teaching the Christian faith. Our children are receiving a religious education.

I too received a religious education. I was taught for 12 years that man is the measure of all things. I was subtly taught how to look at the world and history without ever thinking about God. I was taught that there was no such thing as an absolute truth.

My religious school was the Public School.

By God's grace and intervention I became a Christian. Thank you Lord!

The Cross

God protect us from hearts that get tired of the gospel.

Oh, I know that stuff, tell me something deeper.

Preachers need to protect themselves from the temptation of "impressing" their hearers with "new stuff" or "deep stuff", or "is he ever a good speaker".

The preacher needs to be a herald who preaches God's truth, without shame.

Sometimes the words may be deep but this isn't usually what people need.

They don't need to always be learning something new...something deep.

They need to hear God's clear...plain truths.

If they say they "know that already"...this doesn't really matter.

Blessings don't come just because "you know something"...

Blessings come when you do what you know. And the sinful heart needs lots and lots of reminding...to drill it in deep.

May I never tire of that wonderful message of the Cross of Calvary and Christ's resurrection.

May it always excite me and move me to a deeper love for the Lord!

The Root of Sin

Why is it that we seem to catagorize sin the same way the world does?

If you were to go out and ask unbelievers what the worst sins were they would list off murder, rape, stealing...

...very few [if any] would list idolatry or heresy as wicked sins.

And it is because of idolatry and false teaching that all of these other sins entered into the world.

Satan tempted Adam and Eve with a lie, with a false view of God.

"Has God said"?

Many Christians would fight against homosexual ministers being allowed into their Church but sit back and do nothing when doctrinal errors seep in.
